Homemade Turkey Sloppy Joes

This is by far one of my most favorite recipes. Making your own sauce for a sloppy joe is really simple & just taste so much better than the canned version. It only takes a bit of time to chop out some things to go into it, which you can always do ahead of time to make an even quicker meal on the weekdays.

1 pound ground turkey or beef
1 Tbsp woreschester sauce
1 small yellow onion- diced
1 medium red bell pepper- diced
3 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
1 cup ketchup
1 cup water
2 Tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp yellow mustard
salt to taste ( about 1 tsp)
pepper to taste (about 1 Tbsp) - I love Pepper~!

Brown your meat, drain any excess fat if needed. When meat is cooked add in diced onion, bell pepper & garlic. Cook a few minutes, until onion & bell pepper start to soften.

Next add in ketchup, stir until combined. Then add in salt & pepper- mix well.

Now add in water, and stir in brow sugar, chili powder & mustard. Combine well.

Simmer for 15-20 minutes.

while that is simmering I like to toast my hamburger buns.

Enjoy!!
